Neighbors Building Neighborhoods (NBN) plays a vital role in coalition building and coordination of community efforts on critical issues in a community.

The following community programs and projects are under the "umbrella" of NBN.

Nonprofit Resource Center (NRC)

NRC works to elevate awareness and support of the nonprofit community and promote civic involvement by offering a centralized source of information, training, counsel and tools to support nonprofits at all levels in reaching their mission-driven goals.

      Muskogee Community Anti-Drug Network

Muskogee CAN works to prevent substance abuse before it ever begins.  CAN collaborates with many sectors of of the Community--Parents, Schools, Employers, Community Leaders, and Media to help our community take a stand against substance abuse.

      Regional Prevention Coordinators

Regional Prevention Coordinators' (RPC) mission is to equip communities, organizations, law enforcement, schools, and other community members so that they may have an impact on solving local problems and setting local norms.   RPCs are advocates for the community. They work to reduce substance abuse among both youth and adults by addressing factors in the community that may increase the risk of substance abuse.

Strategic Prevention Framework

The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) uses a five-step process known to promote youth development, reduce risk-taking behaviors, build assets and resilience, and prevent problem behaviors across the life span. The SPF is built on a community-based risk and protective factors approach to prevention and a series of guiding principles that can be utilized at the federal, State/tribal and community levels.

This framework uses the information from public health research along with evidence-based prevention programs to build capacity within States/Tribes/Territories and the prevention field, promoting stronger and healthier individuals, families, and communities.

Other coalitions we've help to build

Muskogee Together has successfully implemented the federally funded Weed and Seed program in Muskogee. Weed and Seed is a strategy that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity in designated high-crime neighborhoods across the country. Muskogee Together conducted a comprehensive needs assessment of the Muskogee community and identified both adult and juvenile crime and reentry needs as well as social problems and needs. Based on this assessment, Muskogee Together with the support of NBN formulated a multi-year strategic plan and implemented evidence based strategies to address these needs.
