Who we are:
On January 27, 1997, the Muskogee City Council approved the development of the Muskogee Vision Team to develop a comprehensive long range community development plan for the city. The project was named Neighbors Building Neighborhoods of Muskogee, and was jointly funded by the City of Muskogee, the Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Muskogee Development Corporation. Working with the Oklahoma Community Institute, NBN directed more than 100 community stakeholders through an extensive process of gathering community input, concerns, and opinions about the needs and priorities of making Muskogee a better place to live and work. Neighbors Building Neighborhoods of Muskogee incorporated in 2001 to serve as fiscal agent and coalition builder for federal grants. Since then, NBN has continued to play a vital role in coalition building and coordination of local efforts on substance abuse and other critical issues in the community.

Coalitions we've help to build
Muskogee Together has successfully implemented the federally funded Weed and Seed program in Muskogee. Weed and Seed is a strategy that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity in designated high-crime neighborhoods across the country. Muskogee Together conducted a comprehensive needs assessment of the Muskogee community and identified both adult and juvenile crime and reentry needs as well as social problems and needs. Based on this assessment, Muskogee Together with the support of NBN formulated a multi-year strategic plan and implemented evidence based strategies to address these needs.
Northeastern Oklahoma Community Anti-drug Network (NEO-CAN) will coordinate the work of the existing CAN organizations throughout the Cherokee Nation's 14 county jurisdiction in executing evidenced-based environmental prevention strategies.
